About Me

MeHi!  My name is Derek Stice physics teacher at Edmonson County High School.

The 2016-2017 school year will be my eleventh year at ECHS and my twelfth year teaching.  I love teaching science at ECHS.

I graduated from ECHS in 2001.  While in school, I was active in many clubs such as BETA, FBLA, Math, and International and was captain of the Academic Team.  I coach the academic team at ECHS, where we have had great success.

After high school, I attended Western Kentucky University where I graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Physics and Mathematics.  I began my teaching career at Butler County High School, where I taught math for one year.  I enjoyed my time at BCHS, but I jumped at the chance to come home.

In 2005, I finished my Masters of Arts in Math Education at WKU, and in 2011 I received my National Board Certification in Physics.

I have one sister, Amanda Davis, who teaches math at ECMS, and is married to Hunter Davis.  This past summer my sister gave birth to my first nephew, Jesse Davis.

My mom, Susan Stice, was a kindergarten aide at South Edmonson, and my dad, Jeff Stice, is retired from school administration.

I am married to Denise Stice, who teaches science here at the high school.  We have been married for ten years.  We have two boys Caleb, top, and Joshua, bottom.

When not at school teaching or coaching, I enjoy playing golf, disc golf, and travelling.  I attend Beaver Dam United Baptist Church.
